Cedar Ridge Camp proudly hosts the Louisville Green School.
Students from Jefferson County Public Schools and beyond explore nature, the environment, culture, and teamwork. Our program offers a variety of classes designed to connect students with nature and foster relationships with one another.

Class Schedule
Students typically arrive at 10:00 a.m. for a brief welcome and introduction in Hopkins Hall. They then split into groups for two 45-minute activity rotations. After the first two activities, everyone comes back together in Hopkins Hall for a sack lunch before heading out for their third activity. The group wraps up around 1:00 p.m. and departs for the return trip to school.
Our schedule is flexible! We can adjust the timing to fit your group’s needs, and schools looking for a longer visit can even add a fourth activity to their day.
Program Variety
The program varies throughout the year.
During the spring and fall most classes are related to nature, science and culture.
After Thanksgiving, Cedar Ridge offers its special "Holidays Around the World" program until school lets out for winter break.
Canoeing
Come along for an exhilarating experience to enhance your paddle skills! Compete with your classmates around the lake while wearing life jackets and under certified supervision for safety.
Trekking Thru the Trees
Join us for an exciting hike in the woods with a Cedar Ridge guide! Discover the diverse plants and animals native to Kentucky as you explore the beautiful landscape. Learn to identify animal tracks and uncover the secrets of the campground. It's a perfect adventure for nature lovers of all ages!
Fishing
Try your skills with an old fashioned cane pole and meal worm. Learn which breeds of fish live in our lake. Watch out for the giant grass-eating carp. Practice safety while using hooks and tools. Win an award for catching a fish!
Bug Safari
Gather around our awesome bug collection and learn about the good, bad and ugly of insects. Go on a bug hunt in our natural habitat and look for bugs in season. See how insects change throughout the year.
Archery
Experience the old and new of a valued sport. The archery range provides many levels of difficulty and success. Arm guards and qualified instruction are provided. Win an award for hitting the bulls-eye!
Hayride
Climb aboard a wagon full of hay and enjoy the great outdoors. Sing a song or be the first to spot a deer or Blue Heron. Pretend you’re a pioneer in a covered wagon on the way to your new homestead.
Settler's Toys
Fashion a hand-crafted doll from corn husk. Learn about the games and activities of children from the past. See how similar we are to the kids of two centuries ago.
Team Building Games
Get your students working together, communicating, and building teamwork skills—all while having fun! Our field games encourage cooperation, communication, problem-solving, and a little friendly competition.
Native People of KY
Go inside our authentic teepee and take a historic peek at a Native American's daily life. Make your own Cherokee basket game— it’s yours to keep!
Gaga Ball
Gaga Ball is a fast-paced, action-packed game similar to dodgeball—but with no teams! Players use quick reflexes, strategy, and a little bit of luck to stay in the pit and avoid getting tagged out. Perfect for large groups, Gaga Ball teaches honesty, integrity, and good sportsmanship while keeping everyone moving and having fun!
Class Picnic
Bring your class to Cedar Ridge Camp for a fun and relaxing day outdoors! Our Class Picnic option includes pavilion use and a hayride for groups of up to 100 students. It’s a great choice for schools looking for a simple outdoor experience with plenty of time to eat, play, and enjoy the camp atmosphere.
Participants should bring their own sack lunch and drinks. Additional activities can be added à la carte from our Retreat Group Pricing page, allowing you to customize your visit with activities that fit your group’s interests and schedule.
